  • 1. What services do mobile vehicle technicians offer?
    Mobile vehicle technicians provide a variety of services directly at the customer's location, including:
    • Routine vehicle maintenance inline within manufacturer recommendations
    • Brake repairs and replacements
    • Battery testing and replacement
    • Electrical diagnostics and repairs
    • Engine diagnostics and performance checks
    • Minor damage repairs inc light units, door mirrors, body trims
    • Safety Inspections, including brake test
    • MOT pre checks and take for test
  • 2. How does a mobile vehicle technician work?
    Mobile vehicle technicians use specialised tools and diagnostic equipment that are portable and can be carried in a service van. They travel to the customer’s location, whether it’s a home or place of work to carry out necessary repairs or maintenance. Back office teams communicate with customers to understand the issue, perform diagnostics, and resolve the problem on-site.
  • 3. Do I need an appointment for mobile vehicle services?
    Yes you will need to schedule an appointment. Many services can be booked by phone or email.
  • 4. Are mobile vehicle technicians qualified?
    Yes, mobile vehicle technicians are usually certified and have extensive experience. They are City & Guilds trained or equivalent and time served, which ensures they have the necessary skills and knowledge to handle a variety of vehicle makes and models. They also receive ongoing training to stay updated with new automotive technologies.
  • 5. How much do mobile vehicle repairs cost?
    Typically mobile servicing and repairs are comparable to a static garage but the benefits are that you won’t lose the vehicle for a full day and you’ll be able to continue with your daily routine
  • 6. Can a mobile technician handle major repairs?
    90% of work completed in a static workshop can be completed by a mobile technician.
  • 7. Do I need to provide any tools or equipment?
    No, mobile vehicle technicians come fully equipped with all the tools and diagnostic equipment needed for the service.
  • 8. Is the service available for all vehicle types?
    Our mobile technicians can service a Cars, LCV and Minibuses plus hybrids and most electric vehicles.
  • 9. Do mobile vehicle technicians offer warranties on their services?
    Yes, many mobile vehicle services offer warranties on both labour and parts. The length of the warranty depends on the specific repair or service, but it’s common for mobile services to provide 3 to 12-month warranties. It’s always a good idea to ask about warranty details before committing to a service.
  • 10. Can mobile vehicle technicians assist with roadside emergencies?
    We don’t offer a roadside service as we are a planned maintenance provider but most leasing companies have breakdown/recovery built into their contract hire agreement
  • 11. How do I prepare for a mobile vehicle service?
    • Make sure your vehicle is accessible (no blocked driveways, etc.).
    • Clear away any obstacles from the area where the technician will work.
    • Have your vehicle’s make, model, registration and issue details ready when booking the service.
  • 12. What happens if the technician can’t fix the problem on-site?
    If the technician cannot fix the problem on-site, we will diagnose the issue, liaise with your leasing company instruct them of the course of action. Vehicles under manufacturer’s warranty will be directed to a dealer unless we are instructed to complete the repair.
  • 13. How long does a typical service take?
    Service times vary depending on the type of repair:
    • Basic maintenance (oil change, tyre rotation) 60 minutes.
    • Diagnostic checks would depend on the complexity of the issue.
  • 14. Can mobile vehicle technicians work on electric or hybrid vehicles?
    Yes, many mobile technicians are now trained and equipped to work on electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid cars. However, due to the specialised nature of these vehicles, it’s always a good idea to confirm whether the technician has experience with EVs or hybrids before booking the service.
  • 15. How often should we have Minibus Safety Inspections?

    The Government's Section 19 and 22 Permit recommendations for vehicles under 10 years of age state: 'bearing in mind that passengers are to be carried in your vehicle and possibly a number of different drivers used, you should carry out more frequent safety checks. DVSA recommend that inspections are carried out at least every 10 weeks.'

    If a vehicle is 12 years or older or covers high mileage, inspections should be carried out every 6 weeks

    Safety Inspection details on the Section 19 Permit application

    From May 2021 the application form for the Section 19 Permit requires you to evidence your Minibus Safety Inspections and provide details of who is carrying out the maintenance on your vehicles. You are required to submit supporting evidence that you are having this maintenance carried out.

  • 16. How will we know when our Safety Inspection is due?
    You will be contacted by our scheduling team approx. 4 weeks before its due date, we will agree a convenient time and date. We can also schedule them for a year in advance if you would like. The appointment will also be confirmed 48 hours before we attend. This takes away the stress and responsibility of obtaining an appointment at short notice.
  • 17. Are your technicians DBS checked?
    Whilst some of our technicians have their own DBS, we have taken the decision not to make it mandatory as they are not supervising children.
  • 18. What happens if it’s raining?
    Our technicians will work in all weather conditions unless it is dangerous for them to do so.
  • 19. Can I change my appointment?
    Yes if you need to change the appointment giving us 48 hours notice there is no penalty.
  • 20. Can I add additional vehicles to the appointment?
    Please call the office for availability, if we can accommodate you we will, if this is not an option, we will make an alternative booking.
  • 21. To be compliant for my section 19 permit, what should I do?
    • Please ensure your vehicle is inspected at the correct intervals.
    • Make sure a brake test (with thermometer check) is carried out at each inspection.
    • Keep and print off all documentation to include your inspection report with the brake test printout attached. These will be emailed to you after the inspection is complete.
